#1) Pay yourself first. Automatic deduct from your pay check, say $50.00 or whatever you can afford and put in Credit Union, or Bank’s saving account. You don’t feel anything and watch it grow.If your saving account reach to $1,000.00 you should consider CD, Mutual fund’s Index fund. And importantly, still keep on doing !
#2) Ask yourself before open your wallet “Is this really need?” “Can I do without it?” If your answer is You don’t really need it, you can live without it. Then don’t spend.
Starting is hard but if you keep doing it saving become enjoyable. You feel good and even little sacrifice here and there become your joy.Miracle is the power of compound interest. Money earns money. Good luck!

Payroll direct deposit a portion of your check into a savings account is a GREAT way to save. If your employer does not offer direct deposit, then you’ll have to discipline yourself and set aside an amount from each pay check.
Since you say you are a spender, you might try thinking about your savings as spending. You are “spending” it on your retirement or “spending” it on your emergency fund or simply “spending” it on yourself so you don’t have to live your life paycheck to paycheck.
It all comes back to you though – you just have to buck up and do it. Try starting with an itsy bitsy amount that you won’t miss anyway?
