i am interested in having my monthly credit card payments put into one payment per month. i was very close to trying this but backed out at the last minute out of fear of being screwed over by a debt consolidation company. can someone explain how these companies work? has anyone ever used one? is it helpful?

In order to be considered a resident in another state for tuition purposes, I cannot be claimed on my parents taxes for two years. I was not claimed on the 2007 but how do we amend the 2006 taxes so I am not claimed as a dependent. Also, once the taxes are amened, will my parent received a new tax return notice that does not claim me as a dependent?

Obama’s tax break for 95% of people includes 40+% of people that do not pay taxes. Plus he is not planning to extend the Bush tax cuts, therefor increasing taxes on 49% or tax payers.
