When Filling Taxes What Is The Difference?

Monday, August 24th, 2009

A Reader Asks…

When filling taxes what is the difference in filling head of household and filling married/jointly? I haven’t worked all year so I won’t have any W2′s. So which one should I file? Is there a difference?

I Do Not Get Taxed. Does That Mean I Will Have To Pay Taxes On The Next Tax Filling Date?

Friday, August 14th, 2009

A Reader Asks…

I work at a public university, where I also go to school. I get paid around $7/hour and I don’t get any deductions from my paycheck. When I filled out my tax forms after getting the job, my coordinator made me fill out only a state income tax form, not a federal tax form. I was wondering what the reason for that is and would I have to pay taxes on next year’s filing date?

Can A Job Take Taxes Out Of Your Check Without You Filling Out Any Paperwork?

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

A Reader Asks…

I work at a restaurant in NYC and we’ve always gotten paid without taxes being taken out of our checks. We instead claim the money and pay taxes every year to the government. I just found out the job is going to start taking taxes out of people’s checks without notifying them first and without having us fill out any paperwork such as a W-2 or I-9 form. Is this legal?
