It seems like rich people are more likely to own and operate businesses that employ people than poor people are. But Obama wants to raise taxes on the rich. I’m sure he means well, but what exactly does he think it will accomplish? If you were a rich business owner, and your taxes were raised, would you be more likely to hire more people and spend more money?

Big business could save a couple of bucks in the short term but that would only increase company profits. The tax increases are aimed at personal income tax, not company taxes.
In the long term productivity would go down because there would be less workers. Does anyone seriously believe top executives deserve multi-million dollar pay packets for creating the economic mess we are all in?

Anyone Support Raising Taxes At The Local Level To Maintain Services?

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

The county I live in is facing a huge budget crisis due to falling home values and lower sales tax revenue. They want us to allow them to raise the tax rate so they do not have to cut back funding to: schools, parks, libraries, fire, human services, and other front line local services.
If this was happening to your home town would you recomend that they raise taxes or cut back on these local services?
